NEW YORK (August 1, 2005)- Meredith Corporation (NYSE:MDP) today announced that Betty S. Wong has been named Executive Editor of Family Circle magazine, effective immediately. Meredith also announced that Karmen Lizzul has been appointed Creative Director and Darcy Jacobs has been named Articles Editor for the 4.2 million-circulation title. "I am very excited to welcome Betty to Family Circle where her editorial expertise will help continue to strengthen this brand," said Linda Fears, acting Editor-in-Chief of Family Circle. "I am also thrilled to work with Karmen and Darcy. They are both true talents in this industry and will be instrumental in the evolution of this magazine. Betty, Karmen, and Darcy add just the right knowledge and leadership to help Family Circle reach its true potential." Wong served as Health Director at Ladies' Home Journal, another Meredith Corporation title for the past year. Her experience includes serving as Executive Editor at Working Mother, Senior Editor at Parents, and Editor-in-chief of Parents Baby. She has held editorial positions at a variety of magazines including: American Baby; Redbook; and McCall's. Wong is a graduate of Cornell University and lives with her husband and daughter in Forrest Hills, N.Y. Lizzul most recently worked as the Creative Director for G+J New Magazine Development, where she was developing a new women's service title. Previously, she worked with Fears as the Creative Director / Deputy Art Director of YM Magazine, a position she held for over two years. Lizzul has also held creative positions at Wink Creative, Mode, Hachette Custom Publishing, Entertainment Weekly, Sassy and Spy. She holds a B.F.A. from the School of Visual Arts and lives in New York City. Jacob's publishing career began at Health magazine as a Copy Assistant, followed by stints at Vogue and Glamour. She then went on to Seventeen, as Copy Chief and then the Features and Fiction Editor. She left Seventeen after five years to help launch Lifetime as Senior Editor and eventually Deputy Editor. Most recently, she helped create a two-issue test of Weekend, where she was Deputy Editor. Darcy graduated from Amherst College and lives in New York City with her husband and two children.
