Center for Culinary Classes & Special Events Comes to Downtown Healdsburg

HEALDSBURG, CA (May 28, 2008) ― Relish Culinary Adventures announced today the opening of the Relish Culinary Center in downtown Healdsburg, CA, the heart of the Sonoma County wine country. Relish partnered with Traditional Home magazine to create this new facility for hands-on and demonstration cooking classes, private parties and corporate events, winemaker dinners and other special occasions.

Summer events at Relish Culinary Center include a series of Chef’s Market classes that include a tour of the adjacent Healdsburg Farmers Market, classes that feature ethnic cuisine such as Chinese Dim Sum and Tuscan Supper, and Perfect Grilling classes for all skill levels. Events feature ingredients grown or produced locally whenever possible, highlighting the agricultural bounty of the Sonoma County region. In support of the Relish Culinary Center and its one-of-a-kind culinary experiences, Traditional Home magazine helped Relish outfit its state-of-the-art 1,000 square foot demonstration and hands-on teaching kitchen. The Relish Culinary Center will also be featured in an upcoming issue of Traditional Home.

The Culinary Center’s modern farmhouse style echoes the agricultural heritage of Sonoma County while reflecting Relish’s commitment to using ingredients from sustainable sources. The Center is outfitted with products from Traditional Home advertisers including Country Floors, DCS by Fisher & Paykel, Gloster, Sunbrella® Fabrics and Thermador. The project has also been created in an environmentally responsible manner, utilizing green products such as kitchen cabinets made from FSC-certified wood, custom bamboo tables, and low VOC paint and flooring in addition to state-of-the-art, energy-efficient DCS appliances. An audio-visual system with wireless microphones and closed-circuit television ensures clear vision and sound for all guests. An outdoor kitchen—featuring a Mugnaini wood-fired oven, DCS Fisher & Paykel grill and Gloster teak furniture—creates the perfect environment for alfresco events most of the year.

Since 2003, Relish has been offering successful “roving” cooking classes at local artisan wineries, sustainable farms and elegant private homes. These roving classes will continue and complement the onsite events at the new Center. In summer 2009, Traditional Home will host an exclusive weekend event with Relish for Traditional Home readers.
